Description
Step into the history of Málaga with a complete self-guided visit to the Alcazaba of Málaga and Gibralfaro Castle, two of the city's most important historic landmarks.
Your experience combines entrance tickets to both monuments with a detailed audio-guided tour, allowing you to explore independently without having to follow a group or fixed guided-tour schedule.
Using your smartphone and headphones, follow the audio tour as you move through the monuments. At each important location, listen to the history, stories, and interesting facts connected to what you are seeing.
Begin at the Alcazaba, built as a fortified palace complex and one of Málaga's most important examples of Islamic architecture. As you walk through its defensive walls, gates, courtyards, gardens, and palace areas, your audio guide explains how the fortress was constructed, how it was used, and how Málaga developed under Muslim rule.
After visiting the Alcazaba, continue to Gibralfaro Castle, located above the Alcazaba. You can make your way to the castle independently. The route between the two monuments is uphill, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
Gibralfaro Castle was constructed to protect the Alcazaba and provide a strategic defensive position overlooking Málaga, the port, and the Mediterranean. Take your time at the viewpoints and enjoy the panoramic views of Málaga, the port, the historic center, and the Mediterranean.
