Description

A walking tour of Marbella combined with a tapas tasting is a wonderful way to discover the historical and culinary heart of this charming coastal town. Marbella has so much more to offer than just luxurious beaches and marinas. The Old Town (“Casco Antiguo”) is full of picturesque alleys, historic buildings, and delicious tapas bars. Start your walking tour in the central Alameda Park, a small, lush park featuring fountains and lovely tiled benches. This is a relaxed starting point from which you can head straight into the Old Town. Exit the park and stroll down Avenida del Mar, a wide pedestrian promenade lined with bronze sculptures by the famous artist Salvador Dalí. This open-air art gallery connects the Old Town with the beach and offers magnificent view of the sea. From Avenida del Mar, walk into the Old Town. Your first stop is Plaza de los Naranjos, the central square and the heart of the Old Town. The square is surrounded by historic buildings and adorned with orange trees and blooming flowers. Here, you will find the 16th-century Town Hall and the Casa del Corregidor, another important building. Take your time strolling through the narrow, cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, vibrant flowers, and small boutiques. The Old Town is full of small courtyards that invite you to linger, as well as art galleries and souvenir shops. Just a few steps from the Plaza de los Naranjos is the Church of the Encarnación, the most important religious site in Marbella. This beautiful 16th-century church boasts an impressive Baroque façade and a richly decorated interior. Admission is free, and it is well worth visiting to enjoy the tranquility and the architectural charm. Continue your stroll through the Old Town and discover hidden squares such as Plaza de Santo Cristo, with its small chapel, or Plaza Altamirano, where you can enjoy a moment of tranquility. Continue your tour and visit the remains of the Arab ramparts, which date back to the time when Marbella was an important Moorish outpost. These walls are among the oldest structures in the city and serve as a reminder of its long history. From here, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding alleyways. Near the wall, you will find the tranquil Plaza Puente Ronda, which is perfect for a short break. Here, you can soak up the atmosphere of the Old Town. After exploring the Old Town, your guide will treat you to tapas and two drinks at one of the oldest and most popular tapas bars. Next, we will visit Marbella's marina and Constitution Square, which is also home to Marbella's bullring. You will learn a great deal about Marbella and the Costa del Sol during this tour.
