Description
Museo Picasso Málaga was established to honor Picasso's wish for his work to be exhibited in his birth city, Málaga, born in 1881. The collection was formed through donations from Picasso’s family and support from the Junta de Andalucía.
Housed in the Palacio de Buenavista, a National Monument since 1939, the museum opened in 2003. The building combines Renaissance, Mudéjar, and modern architectural elements. On the underground floor, visitors can explore archaeological ruins from Phoenician, Roman, and Arabic eras.
This ticket grants access to Picasso’s permanent collection, featuring paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, and graphic works spanning from his early academic studies to Neoclassical pieces. It also includes access to temporary exhibitions: William Kentridge, «More Sweetly Play the Dance» (Nov 21, 2024 – Apr 27, 2025) and Picasso: The Royan Sketchbooks (Jan 31 – May 5, 2025).
See Picasso’s Cubist forms, ceramic experiments, reinterpretations of Old Masters, and late paintings from the 1970s. The museum café in the garden of the Palacio de Buenavista offers snacks, lunch, and drinks to complete your visit.
