Cafe Berlin is much younger than some of the more venerable cafes in the old town, having opened in 2013, but it has carved out its niche well. Its decor is modern and smart, and it has definitely the air of northern Europe, with its more design-conscious decor and settings. The food is more typical of Berlin than Malaga with a great brunch buffet on Sunday's where cold and smoked meats feature heavily, with gravlax and salmon, cheeses and wholesome salads, a great variety of seed and wholemeal breads. It also serves the wonderful Portuguese custard tarts in the flakey pastry cups, which simply are without equal when done well. It's decidedly mittle-europe and very refreshing for it. Its central location means it has a wide terrace on a pedestrianized street so it's a great place to chill and watch the world go by.
