Bars Pubs Anbata is a relatively new Irish Pub in the heart of El Palo, the beachside barrio east of the centre which is a surprisingly untouristy but lively part of town. Indeed, if you are looking for Málaga without the touristy gloss, El Palo is about as local as you can get. Anbata aims to work as a proper local pub. It has several things that anglophone expats might appreciate. Guinness is one of them, but also there's a language exchange programme where you can chat in English and then Spanish so you get a mutual help in each language and meet new people into the bargain. The bar also offers the perennial table football, darts and various board games, plus there's quiz nights and competitions, and the general chatty conviviality that an Irish pub, albeit a very Spanish one, would have.
