Kelipé - El Centro de Arte Flamenco

Kalipé by day is a school or pure flamenco art, where classes in guitar, compás (percussive clapping) and dance take place guided by the teachers with years of experience. The strength of technique is balanced by the nurturing of the essential improvisational skills that are the true basis of flamenco art in its traditional form. From the best of these students and their passion Kalip'e offers evening performances.

The school converts into a tablao at night, with the audience sat closely around the stage on three sides, so you really do have a ringside seat. The shows aim to distil the essence of the students' and teachers' work, giving new talent opportunity to flower and explore, and the shows are based largely in improvisation based on selected and familiar songs and genres. The strength of Kalipé is in its educational drive. It is a centre where the dancers and musicians daily strive to reach that elusive essence of the art, by honing techniques and pushing their own limits through improvisation. this energy is distilled and delivered to you the spectator in their live shows. Exciting and passionate, with real flamenco moments being born anew with each performance. Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 2100 hrs and 2300hrs.
