Thanks to its direct relationship with the world's biggest art museum, the Hermitage Russian National Museum in Saint Petersburg, the Colección del Museo Ruso de Málaga brings specially selected exhibitions of classic Russian works on an annually changing basis. This addition to the already extensive offering in Malaga is well worth a visit. Its three disticnt galleries are housed in the wonderful recently renovated tobacco factory, also next to the Automobile Museum. The spaces are ample and the exhibitions comprehensive. The major collection features some aspect of Russian art and history drawn from the resources of the parent museum in Russia, and there are two smaller exhibitions carrying more eclectic works related to particular artists or movements, which change more frequently. Across the three spaces you will see a range of work that could really only be surpassed in Saint Petersburg, so Malaga is highly privileged to have this museum. The gallery represents yet another hugely successful collaboration between the public authorities and private or foreign collections. It also offers educational programmes for schools and families, workshops, lectures, conferences, events and cinema screenings. With the lovely automobile museum next door, you can have a very rewarding day in the Tabacalera. It is only a 10 minute bus ride from the centre of town, or accessible by car as it isn't in the old town. The combined admission is 8,00€, concessions 4,00€ or 6,00€ (concessions 3.50€) for the permanent main exhibition and 4,00€ (concessions 2.50€) for the temporary exhibition.
