Principia Science Centre
At Principia, the interactive experience with the exhibits provokes reflection and engagement, encouraging visitors to think and investigate the scientific basis of natural phenomena in the world for themselves.
Principia has a strong educational basis, so its activities very much didactic, being a good resource for teachers and students in the teaching-learning process of science. In fact, it was originally created to provide support for classes in schools, gathering a collection of illustrative elements for the topics the students are taught. It features different activity rooms with interactive exhibits focussing on natural phenomena, a planetarium, the 'Faraday' room exploring electricity, and spaces for video and conferences, workshops and astronomical observations. There are a host of activities all the time, aimed at all age groups. Be sure to book in advance for the astronomical observation nights, they are very popular, as they're free of charge.
Opening times are Monday - Friday 0930 - 1400 and 1700 - 2000hrs, Saturdays 1000 - 1400 hrs. Closed in August. Admission 4€, concessions 3€.
