The Echegaray is the fringe venue of its big daddy, the Teatro Cervantes. This small tastefully restored venue is a once famous cinema which featured an opulent neo-classic design. Having been left derelict for decades it has undergone extensive conversion into a studio theatre where the smaller, more avant-garde or more initmate shows are mounted. This allows the venue to host smaller events adding variety and contrast to the main festival events and seasonal programming. Look out for interesting contemporary music, physical theatre, alternative comedy and cabaret, left-field modern dance and auteur film classics.
