Museo Alborania

Malaga

Museums
Suitably located on the port side in Muelle Uno, the Alborania museum is named after the sea that surrounds Málaga. This end part of the Mediterranean that leads to the Atlantic is known as the Alboran Sea and this museum illuminates its secrets, its ecology and the locals' relationship to it. It is essentially an educational museum, and very much aimed at families and children, with a full programme of workshops and talks, and many interactive hands-on exhibits. There is a surprising amount packed into this building. Through different exhibits and rooms you can explore undersea fossils, the life cycle of turtles, search for plankton with a microscope, learn all about seaweed, sharks and other creatures of wonder. There's an oceanographic laboratory to explore tides and currents, a look at the evolution of undersea diving, and much more. Ideal for a rainy day, or more likely when it's too darn hot outside!
