Spanish Steak House Ovidio is neat little steak restaurant just off the Plaza Uncibay right in the heart of the old town. There's no shortage of eateries around here, of varying types, so choosing where to eat can be hard with so much on offer. That's why the asador offers a fairly straightforward option, not hard to decipher. It's going to be meat, grilled with accompaniments, and some fish dishes. The best way to assess somewhere like this is with your eyes. Have a look. Ovidio has a charming simple interior with elegant built-in wine racks around the walls. Its homely but modernish at the same time. And the food? Take a look. When you see the thick gnarled curds of bright yellow fat flanking huge cuts of ox and beef, when you see the perfectly fine and evenly distributed flecks of fat through a sirloin,  and then the deep burgundy of the flesh is free from silly red dye and is not at all shiny, then you know you are looking at class joints of meat. Properly aged, matured over time, from mature animals fed on natural foods, it's not hard to figure out if your chosen asador has got some good meat to serve up. All of that is very plain to see in this charming little steakhouse. The steak is sublime, the surroundings convivial and unpretentious. Where all around you is veritable circus of different cuisines vying for your attention, Ovidio is a little niche of predictability and surety in a complex world. Bring on the steak.
