Located on a busy street leading to Plaza de la Merced, you enter into thoroughly American-style grill. Although the decor is obviously manufactured the Americana is convincingly and attractively done. The booths you eat in are discreet and comfortable and it has the true feeling of a diner. Black Angus is the star item on the menu, and the meat has been well aged and is rich and sumptuous. But they don't play safe. A range of burgers are boldly gastronomic, with combinations of surprising originality, and all of the meat is of excellent quality. The side orders are Texmex, and there's plenty of Americanised trimmings, but the feeling is of a place where the quality of the food comes first, and the concept of the Americana is but an effective backdrop for some really delicious steaks and burgers.
