Located in El Palo, on the Playa del Dedo, Malaga's most eastern barrio, a very popular and traditional fisherman's neighbourhood, the restaurant is as emblematic of Malaga as any other, and is dear to the hearts of all Malagueños. It can be a tumultuous place on a busy day, and that is its attraction. The noise, colour and liveliness is unlike any restaurant you will have been to. It is a basic beach hut type of building, typical of the old Costa, paper napkins and tablecloths, but it is the style of serving that makes the experience unique. You can forget the menu and the ordering. Waiters march out of the kitchen loaded with plates of fried fish and seafood, shouting out their wares above the general din. Wave your hand, holler 'oiga!' 'aqui' or somesuch, and the plate will be duly deposited with little ceremony. The cuisine is typically down to earth Malagueño, lots of very fresh fried, grilled and sauteed seafood. All kinds of local fish, lots of clams and shellfish, delicious marinated chunks of shark and dogfish deepfried, the inevitable boquerones, Málaga anchovies and plenty of good cold beer and wine. There'll be a lot of parsley and garlic going on as well. Simple, delicious, wholesome and part of the great circus that is El Tintero.
