Located in the modern centre of Malaga this stylish and pristine Marisqueria is one of Málaga's premier restaurants. The name means roughly a 'seafoodery', as this the type of Malaguenian restaurant that specialises in seafood, something easily available from the local market, and of the highest quality and freshness. This place caters greatly to the business and civil service clients that work in this barrio, and it's a little out of the old town so is easily missed, but is so worth the trip down the road as there aren't many similar establishments in the more touristy centre. This is the food that Malagueños prize seriously. You can sit at the bar and snack on individual plates of shellfish, squid and octopus with a crisp dry white, or sit and lunch or dine on a la carte dishes of fresh fish or acknowledge the nearby mountains with a dish of tender kid goat. If seafood is your thing, then a Marisqueria is the place to eat it, as it is totally central to their raison d'etre and they will have the freshest and highest quality source. Their reputation depends on it. Well worth the short taxi ride over the river.
