Cafe de Paris has graced the Malagueta since 1982 but has just be refashioned by Jose Carlos Garcia, he of Michelin starred fame on Muelle Uno, about 300 metres from here. So the new cafe keeps the classic French decor, with its calm elegance, and brings some modern perspectives to a cuisine that is absolutely based on the finest local ingredients. The dishes are considered and finely balanced to achieve something modern, adventurous but nonetheless grounded in the trusted quality of local fish, meat and vegetable staples. If you aren't ready for the more expensive Michelin starred indulgence of his main restaurant, this more bistro take on the master's creativity may be just your ticket.
