La Alacena de Francis

Malaga

Spanish Traditional Fine Dining
Located over the river from the old town in the barrio of El Perchal with its elegant older buildings, this is very much a neighbourhood restaurant. The menu is predominantly Spanish classics, there is nothing modern or fancy going on here, just very good traditional food at neighbourhood prices. Good meat and fish, fresh vegetables, long simmered stocks, soups and sauces make for rich and warming homely food. Daniel, the owner is also one of the assets of this etablishment. His knowledge and freindliness, his willingness to engage with his diners and share his passion makes for the perfect meal. Delicious, sociable, unpretentious and sincere. They offer some excellent smoked fish dishes, and have a secret supply of top notch Russian Vodkas. This is not a place you'd come across on the normal tourist trail, but its a short walk over the river from the CAC (modern art gallery) and well worth the detour.
